Exterior Structural Steel Intumescent Fire Protection Paint Ultra - Thin Film Fire Resistant Coating

Modern design practice has increasingly incorporated architecturally exposed structural steel, or AESS. Originally used by structural engineers as a highly elaborate exoskeleton, AESS has evolved into an outlet for both engineers and architects to integrate components of their work into the visibly finished structure. If these exposed design elements are also part of the primary structural components of the building, the integrity of the structural steel must be protected with an intumescent fire protection coating.

BASIC DESCRIPTIONS:

This water based fireproof coating is made of high efficiency flame retardant and light insulation material,which applied directly to the contour of primed I and H section columns, angles, channels, beams and hollow sections to provide fire protection for up to 120 minutes. In a fire, a chemical reaction takes place causing the fire resistant paint to expand and form an insulating layer, thus generate decompose and endothermic reaction to prevent heat transfer and extend the refractory time of steel structure. Steel starts to lose its load bearing capacity at a temperature of around 550°C during a fire. Zhuoan® intumescent paint is designed to protect the buildings main structure in the event of fire.

Ultra - Thin film intumescent coating systems generally have three components, a primer, a basecoat (the part which reacts in the fire) and a sealer coat. The basecoat usually comprises the following ingredients:

A catalyst which decomposes to produce a mineral acid such as phosphoric acid.
A carbonific such as starch which combines with the mineral acid to form a carbonaceous char.
A binder or resin which softens at a predetermined temperature.
A spumific agent which decomposes together with the melting of the binder, to liberate large volumes of non-flammable gases. These gases include carbon dioxide, ammonia and water vapour. The production of these gases causes the carbonaceous char to swell or foam and expand to provide an insulating layer many times the original coating thickness.

APPLICATIONS:

Surface Preparation	The substrate surface must be clean,dry and free from contamination, such as dust,oil stain,water stain,etc.
Mixing	This is one component, but need to stir evenly before application
Construction Method	(1) To clean the steel structure surface,the substrate surface should be free of dust, rust,oil and other impurity (2)The application method could be spray, brush and roller. Stir the coating well before using. each construction thickness should be 0.5-1mm, and execute next construction until the previous coating is dry. Total film thickness is depending on the requirement (3)The coating thickness should be uniform, the surface should be flat. (4)Construction environment temperature should be above 5℃, relative humidity is less than 85%.
